Dato’ Dr. Abd Halim bin Mohd Hussin is a prominent Malaysian figure in counselling psychology, addiction rehabilitation, and mental health development. He currently serves as the President of PERKAMA International, a leading professional body representing counselling practitioners in Malaysia.
He has held significant leadership roles in the public sector, including serving as Director-General of the National Anti-Drug Agency, where he contributed to national efforts in drug prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Dato’ Dr. Abd Halim is also actively involved in advisory and professional capacities. He has served as Head of the Advisory Council for PENGASIH Malaysia and has contributed to national-level discussions as a member of the Mental Health Promotion Advisory Council.
In addition, he has been involved in advancing education and training in addiction rehabilitation, including contributions to initiatives such as the Asian Centre for Addiction Rehabilitation Education at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
Dato’ Dr. Abd Halim began his career as a school counsellor and later moved into academia and senior roles within the public service, including positions within the Public Service Department (JPA). He holds a Ph.D. in a counselling-related field and has dedicated his career to strengthening counselling services, addiction recovery efforts, and mental health systems in Malaysia.
